Rance Earns CACC All-Conference Women’s Basketball Honors
New
Haven, Conn. (2/26/07) - University of the Sciences in Philadelphia
senior guard Shelby Rance was named to the Central
Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Basketball All-Conference Team
as a First Team selection in balloting released today. The voting was done
by the league’s 12 head coaches.
Rance’s (Central Columbia High School/Bloomsburg, Pa.)
first team accolades marks her third consecutive selection to the CACC’s All-Conference
First Team, earning first team honors in ’04-05 and 05-06. Rance is also a
two-time CACC Tournament Most Valuable Player, earning the honors in 2004
and 2006.
Rance is sixth in the CACC in scoring (16.2 points per game). Shelby is also second in the league in free throw percentage (85.6%) and is fifth in the league in steals (2.22). The senior guard has helped lead the Devils to an 18-9 regular-season record and a number three seed in the upcoming CACC Playoffs.
Rance currently leads the Devils in scoring, three-point field goals made, three-point field goal percentage, free throw percentage and steals.
The former Central Columbia High School athlete is in her fourth and final season of play for the Devils, and has started in all 118 games of her career. Shelby is currently the Devils second all-time leading scorer behind former teammate Leah Shumoski with 1,898 career points and ranks in USP’s top ten all-time in six different offensive categories. Rance is also a four-year veteran of the USP women’s cross country team, helping lead the Devils to their first ever CACC Championship in 2005 and earning All-Conference honors that same season.
Rance, a pharmacy major, is pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.
