Honored a Third Time as CACC Women’s Basketball
Rookie of the Week
PHILADELPHIA, PA – University of the Sciences in Philadelphia women’s Basketball player Erin Chesnavich (Bishop O’Reilly High School/Pittston, Pa.) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Basketball Co-Rookie of the Week for the week ending January 28, 2007 along with Adele Laskowski of Dominican College as announced by the conference office earlier today.
In earning Rookie of the Week honors for the third time this season, Chesnavich, a 6’2” freshman averaged 12.3 points per games and 7.0 rebounds per game in helping the Devils record a perfect 3-0 week. Erin made 14 of 29 shots from the field and was a perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line in USP’s three games this week.
Chesnavich recorded her third double-double of the season against Caldwell College on Saturday, pulling down 11 rebounds to go along with her 14 points. Erin made five field goals on 12 attempts and was perfect in four shots from the free throw line. Her seven offensive boards ties a career high and equals the most offensive boards by a USP player this season.
Three days earlier, Chesnavich scored 17 points on 7-for-12 shooting from the field and 3-for-3 from the free throw line against Wilmington College. Erin also pulled down seven rebounds. Chesnavich opened the week with a six-point effort against Georgian Court while playing only 21 minutes.
The former Bishop O’Reilly High School athlete is in her first season of play for the Devils. As a senior last year, Chesnavich led the Queenswomen to a District 2 Class A title, a 25-3 record and a berth in the state tournament. Erin averaged 23.3 points per game and was named to the Class A All-State Team as a First Team selection.
Chesnavich is a biology major at University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.
