Chesnavich Earns CACC Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week Honors

PHILADELPHIA, PA – University of the Sciences in Philadelphia women’s Basketball player Erin Chesnavich (Bishop O’Reilly High School/Pittston, Pa.) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Basketball Co-Rookie of the Week for the week ending January 7, 2007 along with Sophia Iloh of Georgian Court University as announced by the conference office earlier today.

Chesnavich, a 6’2” freshman opened the week scoring 19 points and pulling down nine rebounds in the Devils’ loss to East Stroudsburg University. Erin connected on eight of 14 shots from the field, dished out two assists, and had two blocks and two steals against the Warriors. On Saturday, Chesnavich recorded her second double-double of the season, scoring 12 points and pulling down 11 rebounds as the Devils snapped a two-game losing streak with a win over Post University.

For the week, Erin connected on 14 of 28 (50%) shots from the field in the two games, averaging 15.5 points per game and 10 rebounds per game.

The former Bishop O’Reilly High School athlete is in her first season of play for the Devils. As a senior last year, Chesnavich led the Queenswomen to a District 2 Class A title, a 25-3 record and a berth in the state tournament. Erin averaged 23.3 points per game and was named to the Class A All-State Team as a First Team selection.

Chesnavich is a biology major at University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.
