Chesnavich Earns CACC Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week Honors
PHILADELPHIA, PA – University of the Sciences in Philadelphia women’s Basketball player Erin Chesnavich (Bishop O’Reilly High School/Pittston, Pa.) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Basketball Co-Rookie of the Week for the week ending November 26, 2006 along with Casi Donelan of Goldey Beacom College as announced by the conference office earlier today.
Chesnavich, a 6’2” freshman, tallied 17 points and 15 rebounds in the Devils’ lone game of the week, a 62-47 win over West Chester University on November 21st.
Erin connected on eight of 18 shots from the field (44.4%) and added two blocked shots and a pair of steals. Chesnavich is the first USP women’s basketball player to record a double-double in her collegiate debut since the 1998-99 season.
The former Bishop O’Reilly High School athlete is in her first season of play for the Devils. As a senior last year, Chesnavich led the Queenswomen to a District 2 Class A title, a 25-3 record and a berth in the state tournament. Erin averaged 23.3 points per game and was named to the Class A All-State Team as a First Team selection.
Chesnavich
is a biology major at University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.
