Chesnavich and Weiss Earn All-CACC Women’s Basketball Honors

University of the Sciences in Philadelphia forwards Erin Chesnavich and Allison Weiss were named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Basketball All-Conference Team in balloting released today. Chesnavich, a sophomore, was chosen as a First Team selection while Weiss, a junior was a Third Team selection. The voting was done by the league’s 13 head coaches.

Chesnavich (Bishop O’Reilly High School/Pittston, Pa.)
is currently ranked sixth in the CACC in scoring (14.5 points per game). Erin also leads the league in field goal percentage (56.3%) and is ranked seventh in rebounding (8.9/gm.), ninth in free throw percentage (77.6%); third in blocked shots (1.52/gm.) and second in offensive rebounds (3.74/gm.). Weiss (Springfield High School/Springfield, Pa.) ranks second in the league behind Chesnavich in field goal percentage (53.1%), third in free throw percentage (83.1%), third in assists (4.18/gm.), first in defensive rebounds (6.96/gm.), sixth in rebounding (9.1/gm.) and 22nd in scoring (11.6 points per game). The two front court players have helped the Devils to a 13-14 regular-season record and a number four playoff seed in CACC Southern Division.

Erin leads the Devils in scoring, blocked shots and field goal percentage and is second on the team in rebounds. Chesnavich also ranks third on the team in free throw percentage. Allison leads the team in free throw percentage, rebounding and assists and is second on the team in scoring, blocked shots and field goal percentage. Weiss is also fourth on the team in steals.

Weiss, a former Springfield High School athlete is in her third season of play for the Devils. A three-year starter, Allison has played and started in all 87 of USP’s games over the past three seasons. With 861 career points, she ranks 14th on the Devils all-time scoring list. Allison is also sixth on the Devils all-time rebound list with 661, 12th on the all-time assist list with 201 and ninth on the all-time blocked shots list with 59.

Chesnavich, a former Bishop O’Reilly High School athlete is in her second season of play for the Devils. A two-year starter, Erin has played and started in 50 games for the Devils. Chesnavich is currently 19th on the Devils all-time scoring list with 692 points, 17th on the all-time rebound list with 400 and fifth on the Devils all-time blocked shot list with 73.

Chesnavich is majoring in biology at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia while Weiss is majoring in physical therapy.
