Chesnavich Named to CACC Women’s Basketball Honor Roll
(Earns Honor for fifth time this season)

New Haven, Conn. (1/26/09) – University of the Sciences in Philadelphia women’s Basketball player Erin Chesnavich (Bishop O’Reilly High School/Pittston, Pa.) was named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll for her performance for the week ending January 25, 2009.

In earning CACC honor roll accolades for the for the fifth time this season, Chesnavich, a 6'1" junior forward, averaged 19.0 points per game and 14.0 rebounds/game as the Devils lost both games this week. She was the Devils top scorer and rebounder in each of USP's games. This week’s selection to the honor roll marks the third consecutive week that Chesnavich has been recognized by the conference, having been named to the honor roll on January 12, 2009 and earning Player of the Week honors last week. Erin is also the only women's basketball player within the CACC to be honored by the conference on six separate occasions this season.

Chesnavich opened the week with an 11-point, 13 rebound effort in the Devils 63-33 loss to the University of the District of Columbia, whose team is ranked #20 in the country.

In the Devils only other game of the week, an 83-74 loss to CACC south division rival Wilmington University, the junior forward connected on nine of 12 shots from the field and was a perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line en route to 27 points. Chesnavich also pulled down a career high 16 rebounds, had two assists a blocked shot and a steal.

For the week, Chesnavich shot 68.4% (13-19) from the field and 85.7% (12-14) from the free throw line. Erin pulled down a total of 29 rebounds and also recorded two assists, two blocked shots and a steal.

Chesnavich’s performance this week moved her atop the league’s players in field goal percentage (57%). Erin is also amongst the conference leaders in six other different categories ranking second in the league free throw percentage (88.5%); third in rebounding (9.7/game); fourth in scoring (17.2 points per game), and fifth in blocked shots (1.40/game). Additionally, Chesnavich ranks third in the league, averaging 6.13 defensive rebounds per game and fourth in offensive rebounds averaging 3.6 per game. She is the only CACC women's basketball player ranked in the top five in seven different offensive categories.

The former Bishop O’Reilly High School athlete is in her third season of play for the Devils. Chesnavich currently leads the Devils in scoring average, points scored (258), field goal percentage, total rebounds (146) and blocked shots (21). She is second on the team in free throw percentage. Erin also ranks 17th in the country in free throw percentage and 31st in field goal percentage.

Chesnavich is dual major (biology and physician assistant) major at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.
