Chesnavich
Named to CACC Women’s Basketball Honor Roll
(Earns Honor for fourth time this season)
New Haven, Conn. (1/12/08) – University of the Sciences in Philadelphia women’s Basketball player Erin Chesnavich (Bishop O’Reilly High School/Pittston, Pa.) was named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll for her performance for the week ending January 11, 2009.
In earning CACC honor roll accolades for the for the fourth time this season, Chesnavich, a 6'2" junior forward, averaged 17.5 points per game, 12.5 rebounds/game and 2.0 assists/game in leading the Devils to a 1-1 week. She was the Devils top scorer and rebounder in each of USP's games. Erin joins Philadelphia University's Jessica Romano as the only two CACC women's basketball players to be honored by the conference on four separate occasions this season.
Chesnavich opened the week with a 13 point, 13 rebound effort in the Devils 60-54 loss to Philadelphia University. Erin recorded a career-high eight offensive rebounds and dished out a team-high three assists in 26 minutes of play.
Two days later, against Bloomfield, the junior forward was nearly unstoppable, connecting on 10 of 14 shots from the field for 22 points while pulling down a game-high 12 rebounds, leading the Devils to a 59-48 win.
For the week, Chesnavich shot 61.5% (16-26) from the field and was a perfect 3-for-3 from the free throw line. Erin pulled down a total of 25 rebounds and also recorded three steals, four assists and a blocked shot.
A first team All-CACC selection last year, Chesnavich is amongst the conference leaders in seven different categories ranking second in the league in field goal percentage (58.6%) and free throw percentage (88.9%); fourth in scoring (17.1 points per game), sixth in blocked shots (1.36/game), and 8th in rebounding (8.3 per game). Erin is also sixth in the league average 5.27 defensive rebounds per game and ninth in offensive rebounds averaging 3.0 per game. She is the only CACC women's basketball player ranked in the top 10 in seven different offensive categories.
The former Bishop O’Reilly High School athlete is in her third season of play for the Devils. Chesnavich currently leads the Devils in scoring average, points scored (188), field goal percentage, total rebounds (91) and blocked shots (15). She is second on the team in free throw percentage.
Chesnavich is a biology major at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.
