Chesnavich Named to CACC Women’s Basketball Honor Roll
New Haven, Conn. (11/24/08) – University of the Sciences in Philadelphia women’s Basketball player Erin Chesnavich (Bishop O’Reilly High School/Pittston, Pa.) was named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll for her performance for the week ending November 23, 2008.
In three games last week, Chesnavich, a 6’2” junior, averaged 21.3 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game, leading the Devils to a 1-2 week.
Opening the week against West Chester University, Chesnavich scored a game-high 22 points on 9-for-16 shooting from the field. Erin also pulled down 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season, while equaling her career high of five blocked shots.
Chesnavich followed up her performance against West Chester with a 25-point effort against East Stroudsburg University. The junior forward connected on 10 of 16 shots from the field and was 5-for-7 from the free throw line. Erin also had seven rebounds and three blocked shots .
Closing out the week against Kutztown University, Chesnavich again led the Devils with 17 points, connecting on seven of 13 shots from the field and shooting 3-for-5 from the charity stripe.
For the week, Chesnavich connected on 26 of 45 shots from the field (57.8%), was 12-for-16 (75%) from the free throw line and pulled down a total of 21 rebounds. Erin also recorded nine blocked shots and three steals on the week.
The former Bishop O’Reilly High School athlete is in her third season of play for the Devils. Chesnavich currently leads the Devils in scoring average (18.4 ppg), points scored (92), field goal percentage (57.4%) and blocked shots (9). She is second on the team with 31 rebounds.
Chesnavich is a biology major at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.
