Chesnavich Named to Daktronics Division II All Region Team

Brookville, New York (3/12/09) - University of the Sciences in Philadelphia forward Erin Chesnavich was named to the 2008-09 Daktronics NCAA Division II East All-Region Women's Basketball Team. Chesnavich, a junior, was chosen as a Second Team selection in balloting done by the regions Division II sports information directors. Daktronics is a world leader in programmable electric signs and digital displays and scoreboards.

Chesnavich (Bishop O’Reilly High School/Pittston, Pa.) a two-time All-CACC First Team honoree, led the CACC in field goal percentage (56.2%) and finished the season as the sixth leading scorer in the conference (16.2 points per game). Erin is the only CACC player ranked in the top eight in a total of seven different categories, ranking third in rebounding (9.3/gm.), seventh in blocked shots (1.14/gm.), eighth in free throw percentage (80.9%); fourth in defensive rebounds (6.25/gm.) and eighth in offensive rebounds (3.07/gm.). The junior forward earned CACC and ECAC Player of the Week honors in January and was named to the CACC honor roll five other times during the season. Chesnavich also earned honorable mention for the WBCA Player of the Month honors in January.

Erin is one of five women's basketball players from the CACC named to the Daktronics All-East Region Team as all five CACC First Team All-conference honorees were voted onto the all-region squads. Holy Family University's Catherine Carr and Philadelphia University's Jessica Romano were voted on as First Team All-Region selections while Althea Chambers (Dominican College) and Amelia Simmons (Wilmington University) joined Chesnavich as second team honorees.

The former Bishop O’Reilly High School athlete has completed her third season of play for the Devils. A three-year starter, Erin has played in 78 games for the Devils, starting 77. Against Chestnut Hill College earlier this season, Chesnavich became the 13th women’s player in school history to record 1,000 career points. She is now ranked 9th on the Devils all-time scoring list with 1,146 points. Erin also ranks, 7th on USP’s all-time rebound list with 661, fifth in field goals made (482) and fourth on the Devils all-time blocked shot list with 105. Her 454 points this season is the ninth best season total in the history of the women's basketball program at the institution.

Chesnavich is a double major (biology and physician assistant) at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.
