Wenderoth Named CACC Volleyball Player of the Week
Philadelphia, Pa. (October 8, 2007) – University of the Sciences in Philadelphia senior volleyball player Lindsey Wenderoth (Owings Mills High School/Reisterstown, Md.) was named the CACC Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week for the week ending October 7, 2007.
Wenderoth averaged 2.87 kills and 3.60 digs per game, leading the Devils to a 2-2 record on the week. Lindsey recorded a pair of double-doubles and had 10 or more kills in three of the four matches.
Returning to action on Tuesday after a broken finger kept her out of USP’s last match, Wenderoth started the week with a 15-kill performance as the Devils swept fellow CACC rival Wilmington University, 3-0. The win over the Wildcats was just the Devils second in 41 tries dating back to 1988. Wenderoth committed just three attack errors while hitting .279 (15-3-43). The senior outside hitter also recorded eight digs.
Two days later, Wenderoth recorded the first of her two-double-doubles on the week, getting 10 kills and 13 digs in a 3-1 loss against Bloomfield College. Lindsey also had two aces and two blocks.
Wenderoth continued her strong effort this week with a 14-kill, 25-dig performance against Molloy College on Saturday as the Devils won the match in five games. Lindsey also had two aces and two blocks. Later that day, Wenderoth closed out the week with four kills and eight digs against University of New Haven.
For the week, Wenderoth recorded 43 kills, 54 digs, four aces and five blocks. She led the Devils in kills in both CACC matches while hitting .214 (25-7-84) in those two contests. Lindsey also recorded her 1,300th career dig against New Haven on Saturday.
The former Owings Mills High school outside hitter is in her fourth and final season of play for the Devils. Wenderoth ranks third on the Devils all-time kill list with 954 and all-time dig list with 1305. She is also amongst the Devils top ten all-time leaders in aces, matches and games played. Lindsey is a physical therapy major, pursuing a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of the Sciences.
