Cardine Named CACC Volleyball Rookie of the Week

PHILADELPHIA, PA (September 5, 2006) – University of the Sciences in Philadelphia’s Andrea Cardine (Reading Central Catholic HS/Temple, PA) was named the CACC Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the Week for the week ending September 3, 2006.

In the Devils’ three opening matches this past week, Cardine averaged 2.55 kills, 2.55 digs and 0.27 blocks per game, notching two double-doubles as the Devils went 0-3 at the “Dance in the Devils Den” tournament which USP hosted.

Opening the tournament against Salem International University on Friday, Cardine recorded 11 digs and 11 kills. Andrea followed that with six kills and seven digs in USP’s opening match on Saturday against Philadelphia University.

Cardine closed out the weekend with her second career double-double, an 11-kill, 10-dig effort against Southern New Hampshire University.

The former Reading Central Catholic High School athlete also recorded three blocks and two service aces in the three matches during the two-day tournament.

Cardine, a freshman opposite hitter is in her first season of play for the Devils. She is a Physician Assistant major at the university.
