Puschak Named to CACC Volleyball Honor Roll

PHILADELPHIA, PA (September 30, 2008) – University of the Sciences in Philadelphia sophomore volleyball player Christine Puschak (Conestoga Valley High School/Leola, Pa.) was named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Volleyball Honor Roll for the week ending September 28, 2008.

Puschak averaged 2.82 kills, 0.53 aces and 0.59 blocks per game, leading the Devils to a 3-1 record on the week as the USP improved their overall record at 3-9 and moved to 2-2 in CACC games.

Opening the week against Goldey Beacom College on Tuesday, Puschak recorded 9 kills in 19 attack attempts with just one error for an attack percentage of 42.1%. Christine added two blocks as the Devils defeated the Lightning, 3-0.

After recording just five kills in a 3-1 loss to defending CACC champion Georgian Court University on Thursday, Puschak rebounded with a 14-kill effort against Post University in the opening match of the day on Saturday. Christine recorded an attack percentage of 45.5%, with just four errors in 22 attempts as the Devils rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat the Eagles 3-2. Puschak also added two aces and two blocks.

Puschak closed out the weekend with a 20-kill effort as USP rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Southern New Hampshire University 3-2. Six of her 20 kills came in the decisive fifth set as she recorded an attack percentage of 85.7% (6 kills, 7 attempts, no errors). Christine also added five aces and had four blocks in the match.

For the week, Puschak recorded 48 kills in 97 attempts with 13 errors for a hitting percentage of 36.1%. Christine added nine aces and ten blocks.

Puschak currently leads the Devils in kills (113), kills per set (2.35) and attack % (.272). She is second on the team in, aces (17), aces/set (0.35), total blocks (21) and blocks/set (0.44).

The former Conestoga Valley High School middle hitter is in her second season of play for the Devils. Puschak is a Pharmacy major at USP, pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
