Lechner Named to CACC Volleyball Honor Roll
New Haven, Conn. (November 3, 2008) – University of the Sciences in Philadelphia junior volleyball player Kirsten Lechner (DePaul Catholic High School/Wayne, N.J.) was named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Volleyball Honor Roll for the week ending November 2, 2008.
Lechner averaged 3.50 kills, 0.50 aces and 4.00 digs per set, leading the Devils to a 1-1 record on the week. USP’s record now stands at 10-16 overall and 8-7 in CACC games.
Opening the week against Philadelphia University on Tuesday, Lechner recorded 10 kills in 29 attack attempts with three errors for an attack percentage of 24.1%. Kirsten also added 15 digs to produce her fourth double-double of the season and ninth of her career as the Devils lost to the Rams, 3-0.
In USP’s only other match this week, Lechner narrowly missed another double-double, punching out 11 kills in 25 attempts and getting nine digs on defense as the Devils defeated Felician College 3-0 on Saturday. Kirsten also had just once service error in 19 attempts (94.7%). Two of her serves also resulted in aces.
For the week, Lechner recorded 21 kills in 54 attempts with 5 errors for a hitting percentage of 29.6%. Kirsten added three aces and 24 digs in the six sets played this week.
Lechner is currently second on the Devils in digs with 298, averaging 3.10 per set. Kirsten is third on the team in attack percentage (.118), fourth in kills (168, 1.75/set) and fourth in aces (25, 0.26)
The former DePaul Catholic High School outside hitter is in her third season
of play for the Devils. Lechner is a Pharmacy major
at USP, pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
