Puschak Named CACC Volleyball Player of the Week
PHILADELPHIA, PA (September 10, 2007) – University of the Sciences in Philadelphia freshman volleyball player Christine Puschak (Conestoga Valley High School/Leola, Pa.) was named the CACC Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week for the week ending September 9, 2007.
Puschak averaged 3.15 kills, 0.77 aces and 1.0 blocks per game, leading the Devils to a perfect 3-0 record in their own tournament the Devils Classic. Her efforts on the court earned her tournament Most Valuable Player honors in voting done by the participating coaches.
Opening the tournament against Caldwell College on Friday, Puschak recorded nine kills in just 15 attack attempts with just one error for an attack percentage of 53.3%. Christine added four blocks and three aces as the Devils defeated the Cougars 3-0.
The next morning against American International College, Puschak recorded a career-high 21 kills and an attack percentage of 34.1% (21-6-44) while adding three blocks and one service ace, helping the Devils to a thrilling 3-2 win over the Yellowjackets. Christine’s 21 kills was the most in a match by a Devils player so far this season.
Puschak closed out the weekend with an 11-kill, six ace and six block performance to lead the Devils to a 3-2 come-from-behind win against Southern Connecticut State University.
Seven matches into the season and Puschak currently leads the Devils in kills (93), kills per game (3.32), and attack % (.330). She is second on the team in aces (17) and total blocks (27).
The former Conestoga Valley
High School middle hitter is in her first season of play for the Devils. Puschak
is a Pharmacy major at USP, pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
