Trimble, Lavooy Named to CACC All-Conference First Team

New Haven, Conn. – University of the Sciences in Philadelphia seniors Megan Trimble and Sarina Lavooy were named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) All-Conference Women’s Softball Team as First Team selections as announced today by the conference office. The All-CACC team selections are done by the league’s 12 coaches.

The 2007 season makes the first time since the Devils joined the CACC and the first time in the last 15 seasons that USP has had two first-team all-conference selections in the same season. The USP softball team finished the season with a 14-23 record, the most wins for the program since the 2001 season and an 11.5 game improvement over their 2006 campaign.

In earning All-CACC honors for the third time in four years, Trimble (Coatesville High School/ Coatesville, Pa.) led the Devils in batting (.437), home runs (3) and runs batted in (26). The senior outfielder played and started in 33 of the Devils 37 games, recording 45 hits in 103 at-bats. Trimble was also second on the team in stolen bases with four and third on the team in doubles with six. Her .437 batting average places her third amongst the league’s softball players. Trimble was the CACC Player of the Year in 2004 and a second team All-CACC selection in 2005.

Lavooy (Vernon Township High School/Sussex, N.J.) earned all-conference honors for the second consecutive year, having been a second team selection in 2006. Sarina was second on the team in batting (.387) and tied the USP single season record for hits with 46. The senior outfielder led the team in runs scored (28) and drove in 11 runs batting in the leadoff spot. Her speed on the base paths was also evident as Lavooy led the team with eight stolen bases. Sarina batted .389 this year with runners in scoring position and .429 with runners in scoring position and two outs.

Lavooy closed out her career as the Devils’ all-time leader in hits (165), run scored (100) stolen bases (47), games played (145), at-bats (473) and ranks in the top ten all-time in six other offensive categories.

Trimble is the Devils’ all-time leader in home runs (21), total bases (217) and runs batted in (88). She is fourth on the devils all-time hit list behind Lavooy with 124 career hits. Trimble also ranks in USP’s top 10 all-time in six other offensive categories.

Lavooy and Trimble have completed their fourth season of play for the Devils. Both players are pursuing Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.
