Tu Named
CACC Softball Player of the Week
Morgan also named to CACC honor roll

– University of the Sciences in Philadelphia women’s softball second baseman
Samantha Tu (Bensalem HS/Trevose, Pa.) has been
named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for the
week ending March 8, 2009.
In earning this season’s first CACC player of the Week honors, Tu batted .500 in the Devils eight contests at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Florida last week. The junior infielder had hits in all eight games and drove in seven runs in leading USP to a 3-5 record.
On Sunday, USP’s first day of competition at the games, Tu had three hits in the season opener against Kutztown with a run scored and an RBI and followed with a two-hit effort with a double and an RBI against Mount Olive.
The next day Tu recorded two more multiple hit games, with two hits apiece against Mercyhurst University and Lake Erie College. Samantha also drove in two runs in USP’s 11-0 win over Lake Erie.
Tu also had a pair of RBI in the Devils 5-4 extra inning win over Lake Superior State College and recorded her second three-hit game of the season.
For the week, Tu had 15 hits in 30 at-bats with a pair of doubles, four runs scored and a stolen base.
In addition, junior pitcher
Rachel Morgan (Clackamas HS/Clackamas, Pa.) was
named to the CACC honor roll. Morgan won two of
the Devils three games in Florida, picking up a shutout against Lake Erie
College. Rachel went 2-2 on the week with a 1.71
earned run average with 22 strikeouts in 28 2/3 innings pitched. Morgan also
batted .429 for the week.
