Ebersole Named to Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Softball Team
Philadelphia, Pa. – University of the Sciences in Philadelphia women’s softball junior Brittany Ebersole (Cumberland Valley High School/Camp Hill, Pa.) has been selected to the 2008 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Softball Team.
In earning Area All-Academic Honors for the second year in a row, Ebersole was one of ten student athletes selected to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Women’s Softball Team. The team was voted on by the sports information offices of the 28 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
The former Cumberland Valley High School athlete earned Dean's List honors for the sixth consecutive semester with a 3.817 semester grade point average. A chemistry major, Ebersole has a 3.884 overall g.p.a. She was inducted into the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society as a freshman.
Ebersole played in 19 games for the Devils in 2008, starting 17 at third base as part of a three-player platoon. Brittany recorded a .375 batting average when leading off an inning and had a 55.6% success rate of advancing runners when batting. Her five sacrifice hits this year are the fifth highest single season total in school history.
Ebersole is joined on the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Softball Team by joined by Tara Colantuono (West Chester), Jacque Curtis (Philadelphia University), Jackie Sasko and Heidi Smith (Rowan), Caitlin Callahan (Widener), Nicci Ward (Villanova), Bethany Pavlik (Delaware Valley), Anne Pearsall (Chestnut Hill) and Mallory Meyer (Widener). Meyer was named the 2008 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Softball Performer of the Year.
