USP Softball Team Qualifies for CACC Playoffs
The University of the Sciences in Philadelphia Women’s Softball team has qualified for the 2008 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference playoffs which will begin on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Caldwell College. This marks the first time the women’s softball team has earned a playoff berth since the 2001 season.
The team enters the post-season as the #6 seed and will face #3 seed Dominican College in the first game of the double-elimination tournament. USP had finished the season in sixth place with a 12-12 record but were forced to wait for the outcome of Felician College’s three makeup games. The Golden Falcons lost to top seed Georgian Court University on Tuesday and were eliminated from playoff contention, giving USP their first playoff birth in seven years.
The USP-Dominican game will start at 12:00 on May 1, 2008 at Caldwell’s softball field #1 on their campus. The winner of the game will face host Caldwell College at 2:00 p.m, with the winner progressing to the winner’s bracket on Friday. The loser of the first round game will face the loser of the Holy Family-Wilmington game at 4:00 p.m.
The championship concludes on Saturday May 3 2008 with the championship game at 1:00 p.m. and a second game if necessary at 3:00 p.m.
