Klimitas Named NCAA Rifle Committee Chair
University of the Sciences in Philadelphia Associate Athletic Director and Head Rifle Coach Paul Klimitas has been appointed the Chair of the NCAA Rifle Committee. He replaces Valerie Boothe of University of Mississippi whose term expired in September.
Klimitas has been a member of the NCAA Rifle committee since September 2003 when he was appointed to fill a vacancy on the committee. In September 2005 he was appointed for a full four year term which is set to expire in September 2009. Klimitas will not be eligible for reappointment in 2009.
“Coach K” completed his 31st season as head coach of the rifle programs at USP in 2007, which ties the record for most seasons coached, held by former Kings College coach Bill Kane (1946-1977). In his 31 years at the helm of the Devils, Klimitas’ teams have won eight Non-NCAA National Championships and 15 Mid-Atlantic Rifle Conference Championships.
Klimitas is a certified NCAA referee, has served as an international rules consultant (International Olympic Committee, United International Shooting Union, USA Shooting), is a NRA certified executive officer, rifle instructor, and a home firearms responsibility firearms instructor.
Klimitas
also serves Chairman of the Physical Education Department at USP.
