Bauer Earns
All-MAC Honors for the Fourth Consecutive Year
(Becomes
USP’s first Eight-time All-MAC shooter)
University of the Sciences in Philadelphia senior Michelle Bauer (Triton Regional High School/ Blackwood, N.J.) has earned All-Conference honors for the Mid Atlantic Rifle Conference (MAC) for her performance during the 2007-2008 season. In earning All-MAC honors for the fourth consecutive years in both guns, Bauer becomes the Devils first eight-time All-MAC shooter. Michelle was a second team selection in both smallbore and air rifle.
The MAC All Conference First and Second Teams are comprised of eight shooters with the top season averages in a minimum of five MAC matches during the season. The top four shooters earn First Team honors while the next four are named to the second team. Two additional shooters are chosen as honorable mention selections.
Bauer was the Devils top shooter in both guns throughout the year. Michelle competed in ten MAC smallbore matches this season and had an average of 566.10. In her nine MAC air rifle matches, Bauer’s average was 575.78.
Earlier this month, Michelle helped lead her team to the MAC Sharpshooter Division Smallbore Championship as the Devils defeated Virginia Military Institute. In becoming an eight-time all MAC athlete, Bauer earned second team honors for both smallbore and air rifle as a freshman in 2005, first team in smallbore and second team selection in air rifle in 2006 and second team in both guns in 2007.
A senior Pharmacy major pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree, Bauer has also excelled in the classroom and was named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Area At Large All-Academic Team in 2006 and 2007, earning Performer of the Year honors in 2006. Michelle was also named to the 2006 ESPN, The Magazine Academic All-District At-Large Team as a second team selection. Bauer has also been a CRCA (College Rifle Coaches Association) All-Academic All-American selection in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
Bauer is in her fourth season of competition for the Devils and will conclude her career next weekend at the NCAA National Championships at the United State Military Academy in West Point, New York. Michelle is the first athlete from a Philadelphia area college or university to ever participate in the NCAA National Rifle Championship.
