Bauer Earns All-MAC Honors for 06-07 Season
University of the Sciences in Philadelphia junior Michelle Bauer (Triton Regional High School/Blackwood, N.J.) has earned All-Conference honors for the Mid Atlantic Rifle Conference (MAC) for her performance during the 2006-2007 season. Bauer was a second team selection in both smallbore and air rifle.
The MAC All Conference First and Second Teams are comprised of eight shooters with the top season averages in a minimum of five MAC matches during the season. The top four shooters earn First Team honors while the next four are named to the second team. Two additional shooters are chosen as honorable mention selections.
Bauer was the Devils top shooter in both guns throughout the year. Michelle competed in eight MAC matches this season and had a smallbore average of 568.25. In her eight air rifle matches, Bauer’s average was 574.14.
This year’s selection marks the third consecutive year that Bauer has earned All-MAC honors in both guns. As a freshman in 2005, Bauer earned second team honors for both smallbore and air rifle. Last season, Michelle was a first team selection in smallbore and a second team selection in air rifle.
A junior Pharmacy major pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree, Bauer has also excelled in the classroom, earning her the 2006 Philadelphia Inquirer Philadelphia Area At Large All-Academic Performer of the Year honors and a spot on the 2006 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District At-Large Team as a second team selection. Bauer has also been a CRCA (College Rifle Coaches Association) All-Academic All-American selection in 2005 and 2006.
Bauer is in her third season of competition for the Devils and will conclude her season this weekend at the MAC Championships at the United State Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. The USP mixed team will shoot against Penn State University in the air rifle in the Sharpshooter Division while the USP women’s team will shoot against Massachusetts Maritime in both guns in the Marksman Division.
