KLIMITAS EARNS 700TH CAREER WIN AS USP RIFLE COACH
USP head rifle coach Paul Klimitas earned his 700th smallbore victory of his career last weekend as USP defeated Indiana University of Pa. 2090-1932 in a tri-match along with Duquesne University on Saturday.
Coach K, as he is known to the USP student body, is in his 24th season as Head Rifle Coach. He has a career smallbore record of 700-240 for a winning percentage of .745, and currently ranks second on the all-time smallbore win list behind Tom Campisano of IUP, the team Klimitas defeated for his 700th win. Campisano is in his 32nd year as IUP's head coach.
In addition to the win against IUP, USP also shot against Duquesne University. Duquesne, a full scholarship team, was ranked 8th nationally in the NCAA pre-season poll. USP hung tough with the Dukes losing by a score of 2152-2090. USP is now 2-1 on the season.
USP will host Army this weekend at the Col. William Shea Rifle Range on the USP campus. Army is one of four other nationally ranked teams (13th) the USP will shoot against this semester. The other three are Navy (2nd), Norwich University (5th) and Coast Guard (12th). The starting time for Saturday's match is 9:00 a.m.
