Tyler Weisel Named to Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men's Tennis Team
PHILADELPHIA – University of the Sciences in Philadelphia junior Tyler Weisel (Jr., Greater Latrobe Sr. HS/Greensburg, Pa.) has been named to the 2006-07 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men's Tennis Team.
Weisel is one of six student-athletes selected to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men’s Tennis Team. The team was voted on by the sports information offices of the 28 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
Weisel,
who also earned a spot on the Academic All-Area team last year, plays No. 1
singles and No. 1
doubles for the Devils. He is 12-3 this season in singles, with a career mark
of 27-10; in doubles, Weisel also sports a 12-3 record this season and 28-9
for his career. Weisel led the Devils to their best season in school history,
a 12-2 record. Since Weisel joined the men's tennis team in 2004, USP has a
25-10 record in dual matches. Weisel has been on
the Dean’s List every semester and is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor
Society.
Weisel sports a 3.48 grade point average while pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. He is also minoring in Spanish.
Joining Weisel on the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men’s Tennis Team are Mikhail Bekker and Jason Pinsky of the University of Pennsylvania; Jonathan Reiss of Swarthmore College; Nate Seifert of Eastern University; and Elmer Trust of Haverford College. Bekker was named the 2006-07 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men's Tennis Performer of the Year, an honor he also earned in 2005-06.
