Van Scyoc Named to CACC Men’s Tennis Honor Roll
New Haven, Conn. (4/6/09) – University of the Sciences in Philadelphia men’s tennis player Roger Van Scyoc was named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men’s Tennis Honor Roll for the week ending April 5, 2009.
Van Scyoc (Palmyra Area High School/Palmyra, Pa.) produced a 2-0 singles record and a 1-1 doubles record in three conference matches this week. USP went 1-2 in the three contests.
Roger opened the week with a 10-8 pro-set win at #6 singles over Philadelphia University's Mario Bermeo on Thursday also had his only doubles loss of the week, an 8-2 defeat at #3 doubles. Van Scyoc won his second singles match of the week on Saturday, a straight set, 6-0, 6-0 triumph over Adam Marenholz of Post University at the number four singles slot. Closing out the week with a second match against Philadelphia University, Van Scyoc recorded a 8-6 doubles win while teaming with Jason Chen at #3 doubles to defeat Bermeo and Eric Guerrero.
The former Palmyra Area High School athlete is in his first season as a member of the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia men's tennis team. Van Scyoc is a physical therapy major Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.
