Caceres
Named CACC Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Fine also named to CACC Honor Roll
New Haven, Conn. (4/13/09) – University of the Sciences in Philadelphia men’s tennis player Paul Caceres was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for the week ending April 12, 2009.
Caceres (Bergen Catholic High School/Teaneck, N.J.) was perfect on the week with a 3-0 singles record and a 2-0 doubles record in leading the Devils to a 3-0 week, including two wins over Chestnut Hill College, who is ranked #9 by the NCAA in the East region.
Paul returned to action this week after missing the past couple of weeks with a knee injury. The senior's first match was against Chestnut Hill's Carson Richter on Wednesday, April 8th. Playing in the #4 singles slot, Caceres defeated Richter, 6-4, 6-0 as the Devils went on to win the match 6-3.
The next day, Caceres faced Richter again, and again defeated the Chestnut Hill player 6-2, 7-6 while playing at #4 singles. He also teamed up with Ricardo Martins to defeated Richter and Adrian Avena at #2 doubles 8-2. The Devils won the match 9-0

closed out the week on Saturday with an 8-0 pro-set singles win over Adam Marenholz
of Post University. Paul also teamed up with Billy
Fine (West Chester East High School/West Chester, Pa.) to earn
an 8-1 win at #2 doubles as the Devils cruised to a
7-0 win over the Eagles.
In addition to Caceres earning Player of the Week honors, Fine was named to the CACC Men's Tennis honor roll for his performance last week. Fine was also perfect on the week, going 3-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles competition.
Fine recorded two wins over Chestnut Hill's Steve Hlava at#3 singles this week, winning 7-5, 6-1 on Wednesday and 6-2, 7-6 on Thursday. Billy also defeated Post's Johan Pineda at #1 singles, 8-1 on Saturday. In doubles Fine played at #1 doubles along with teammate Francisco Garcia and won twice against Chestnut Hill's Hlava and Julius Twyman; 8-4 on Wednesday and 8-3 on Tuesday. Fine also teamed with Caceres to win at #2 doubles against Post on Saturday.
Caceres is in his fourth and final season as a member of the USP men's tennis team. Paul is 6-1 overall in singles competition this year and 5-1 in doubles (his only losses coming in the Fall ITA Tournament). Fine is in his first season as a member of the men's tennis team and has an 8-7 singles and 9-4 doubles record this season.
