Weisel and Rubin Named to Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men's Tennis Team
PHILADELPHIA – University of the Sciences in Philadelphia senior Tyler Weisel (Greater Latrobe Sr. HS/Greensburg, Pa.) and sophomore Daniel Rubin (Neshaminy HS/Langhorne, Pa.) have been named to the 2007-08Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men's Tennis Team.
Weisel and Rubin are amongst the six student-athletes selected to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men’s Tennis Team. The team was voted on by the sports information offices of the 28 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
In becoming a three-time Academic All-Area Selection, Weisel sports a 3.42 grade point average. The senior recently completed his second professional year and fourth overall in the University's Doctor of Pharmacy program.
Weisel closed out his tennis career at USP with a 9-5 singles record and a 12-2 doubles record while playing in the #1 slot for both and leading the Devils to a 10-3 record this year. For his career, Tyler has a 36-15 singles mark and a 40-11 doubles record. His 76 total wins are the most in school history. USP has had a 35-13 record during Weisel's four years on the team. He is a member of USP's Student Athletic Advisory Committee and the USP student chapter of the American Pharmacists Association (AphA). Weisel has earned Dean's List honors six times and was inducted into the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society as a freshman.
The sophomore Rubin, just completed his second year of studies in the University's Doctor of Pharmacy program and sports a 3.627 overall grade point average. Daniel has earned Dean's List honors three times including this spring with a 3.786 GPA.
Rubin recorded an 8-5 singles record primarily at the #4 singles slot and an 11-3 doubles mark which included a perfect 8-0 record at #2 doubles. For his career, Daniel has a 20-8 doubles record and a 13-8 singles mark. USP is 21-5 in his two seasons on the team. Like his teammate Weisel, Rubin is a member of the USP student chapter of the American Pharmacists Association (AphA) and was inducted into the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society as a freshman.
Joining Weisel and Rubin on the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men’s Tennis Team are La Salle’s Chris Butera, Haverford’s Thomas Kinrade, Philadelphia’s Anders Novesky, and Arcadia's Timothy Fitzgerald.
