Kurtz is Named to CACC All-Conference Men’s Basketball Team
New
Haven, Conn. (2/26/07) - University
of the Sciences in Philadelphia men's basketball player Bill Kurtz
(Shawnee High School/Shamong, N.J.) was named today to the Central
Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) All-Conference Team as a third team
selection. The voting is done by the league’s 11 coaches.
Kurtz, a senior guard, is currently second on the
Devils in scoring (14.5 points/game), and leads the team in free throw percentage
(85.2%), three-point field goals made (69) and three-point field goal percentage
(40.1%). Bill is also second on the team in assists
with 64.
Bill’s 85.2% free throw shooting average currently
leads the CACC. Kurtz is also second in the CACC
in three-point field goals made per game, and ranks 31st nationally. The senior
guard also ranks seventh in the league in three-point field goal percentage
(55th nationally) and 15th in the league in scoring.
Earlier this month, Kurtz became the Devils all-time leader in three-point field goals made; surpassing the mark of 253 set by Joe Miller (1991-95). Bill now has 268 for his career. Also earlier this season, Kurtz became the 34th player in school history to record 1000 career points. Bill currently has 1,239 career points to rank 20th on the Devils all-time scoring list.
The former Shawnee High School athlete is in his fourth and final season of play for the Devils. Kurtz will graduate in May with a degree in Pharmaceutical Marketing/Management.
