Concannon Named Sam Cozen Small College Player of the Week
Philadelphia, Pa. (December 9, 2008) - University of the Sciences men's basketball player Mark Concannon (Cardinal O’Hara High School/ Springfield, Pa.) was honored as the Sam Cozen Small College Player of the Week by the Philadelphia Area Small College Coaches Association at their luncheon Tuesday at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.
Concannon,
a senior guard, has appeared in all seven games for USP this season in a reserve
role, averaging nearly six minutes a game. “Mark is one of the hardest workers
on our team, always striving to improve his basketball skills,” says USP head
Coach David Pauley. “Basketball-wise he will do anything you ask of him and
is always one of the first players in the gym and one of the last to leave.
I am proud to honor him with this award.”
The former Cardinal O’Hara High School athlete entered USP in the fall of 2005 and tried out and made the men’s basketball team as a walk-on. Concannon has remained a part of the men’s basketball program since then and is one of five seniors on the 2008-09 team. At Cardinal O’Hara, Concannon earned Second Team All-Delaware County honors and was an honorable mention All-Philadelphia Catholic league selection his senior year.
Concannon is a pharmaceutical sciences major at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia and is in his fourth and final season of play for the Devils.
