USP Finishes Eighth
at CACC Championships (4/18/07)
After being postponed
for a day, the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Golf Championships
took place yesterday at Frog Hollow Golf Club in Middletown, Delaware.
The University of the Sciences in Philadelphia golf team was one of ten
teams competing and battling the less than perfect weather conditions.
When all the teams had finished their round, the Devils had placed eighth
amongst the ten teams, equaling their finish from last season.
The Devils finished
the 18-hole tournament with a score of 340, two strokes behind seventh
place Philadelphia University and 29 strokes behind tournament winner
Post University. The Eagles won their second consecutive CACC Men’s Golf
Championship, edging Goldey-Beacom College by just one stroke, 311-312.
Jonathan Carr of Nyack College won the individual title, firing a one-over-par
72, while Post freshman Lee Wanklyn shot a 74 to take home Rookie of the
Year honors. Post's Tommy Dorso, Jr. was voted Coach of the Year and Nyack
earned the annual Team Sportsmanship Award. The tournament was originally
scheduled to be a 36-hole event, but rain and wind forced the opening
round to be canceled.
James
Kim (Jr. Dulaney HS/Nottingham, Md.) led the Devils with
a score of 79, finishing in a tie for 12th place overall. Scott
Cahayla (Fr., Lakeland
Regional/Ringwood, NJ) finished the day with a score
of 84, placing 25th overall amongst the 48 golfers competing. Dan
Lovette (Fr., Bishop McCourt/
Davidsville, Pa.) was four strokes behind Cahayla
with a score of 88 (34th place) and Blake
Vida (So., Pomperaug Regional HS/ Southbury, Conn.)
rounded out the Devils top four finishers with a score of 89 (36th place).
Adam Strittmatter (So., Ford
City HS/New Castle, Pa.) also competed for the Devils,
shooting a 91 (38th place).
The Devils will conclude
their season with a dual match against Philadelphia University on April
27, 2007.

Place Third in CACC Tri-Match at Frankford Torresdale (4/14/07)
The University of
the Sciences in Philadelphia place third at yesterday's Central Atlantic
Collegiate Conference (CACC) tri-match between the Devils, goldey Beacom
College and host Holy Family University at Frankford Torresdale Country
Club in northeast Philadelphia.
Goldey Beacom finished
first with a score of 336, followed by Holy Family (360). The Devils shot
405 on the day to place third. The losses drop the Devils record to 5-10
overall.
Scott
Cahayla
(Fr., Lakeland Regional/Ringwood, NJ) led the Devils
with a score of 89, nine strokes behind medalist Steve Cutler of Goldey
Beacom and tied for sixth place overall. Michael
Moll (So., Wilson Area HS/Easton, Pa.) (98), Blake
Vida (So., Pomperaug Regional HS/ Southbury, Conn.)
(105) and Nathan
Zook (Jr., Cumberland Valley Christian/ Chambersburg, PA)
(113) rounded out the Devils four finishers.
Goldey Beacom was
led by Cutler's 80. Mike Williams followed with 82. Rob Hunt (86) and
Justin Grossman (88) rounded out their top four finishers. The Tigers
were led by Jon Radick's score of 85. Ed Czambelak followed with an 89.
Matt Deckert (92) and Ed Webster (94) rounded out Holy Family's top four
finishers.

the Devils will participate in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference
golf championships held Monday and Tuesday, April 16-7, 2007 at Frog Hollow
Golf Club in Middletown, Delaware.

Earn Wins against Caldwell and Chestnut Hill (4/5/07)

Scott Cahayla shot 76 and 77 respectively as the University
of the Sciences in Philadelphia coed golf team picked up two more wins,
defeating Chestnut Hill College and Caldwell College at Island Green Country
Club this afternoon.
The Devils shot 329
on the afternoon, besting Chestnut Hill College (398) and Caldwell College
(408). The two wins improve the Devils record to 4-6 overall.
Lovette
(Fr., Bishop McCourt/ Davidsville, Pa.) earned medalist
honors with his score of 76, battling the cold weather and snow flurries
before finishing the round. Cahayla (Fr., Lakeland
Regional/Ringwood, NJ) had the second lowest score
of the day with a 77. Four strokes behind Cahayla and turning in the third
lowest score was James Kim (Jr. Dulaney HS/Nottingham, Md.)
who finished with an 81. Michael Moll (So.,
Wilson Area HS/Easton, Pa.) rounded out the Devils
top four scorers with a score of 95.
Chestnut Hill was
led by John McLaughlin, who finished four strokes behind Kim with an 85.
Nick D'Amico followed with an 87. Bobby Larkin (98) and John Durante (128)
rounded out the Griffins top four scorers on the afternoon.
Caldwell's Chris
Parker finished just two strokes behind Kim with an 83 on the afternoon.
Josh Chen followed with a score of 98. Justin Kamm (105) and Dan Jennings
(120) rounded out top four scorers for the Cougars.
The Devils will return
to action on Monday, April 9, 2007 when they take on Caldwell College,
Holy Family University and Philadelphia University at Essex Fells Country
Club in Essex Fells, New Jersey.
Devils
Place Second in Quad Match at Island Green (3/31/07)
The University of
the Sciences in Philadelphia coed golf team earned their first two wins
of the season in yesterday's quad match at Island Green Country Club,
turning in their lowest team score in over seven seasons as the defeated
Haverford College and Chestnut Hill College while falling to defending
Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference champion Goldey Beacom College.
The Devils shot 315
on the afternoon, placing second behind Goldey Beacom's 304. Haverford
shot 334 and Chestnut Hill shot 393 on the afternoon. The Devils improve
to 2-6 overall with the wins over the Fords and the Griffins.
Goldey Beacom's Steve
cutler had the lowest score of the afternoon with a score of 69. Five
strokes off the pace was USP's Scott Cahayla
(Fr., Lakeland Regional/Ringwood, NJ). Cahayla
shot a career best 74 and tied for the lowest round shot by a Devils this
season. Mike Williams of Goldey Beacom and Kevin McGravey of Haverford
had the third lowest scores with each of them shooting 77, while USP's
Dan Lovette
(Fr., Bishop McCourt/ Davidsville, Pa.) was one strike
behind the two with a 78.
Justin Grossman and
Rob Hunt rounded out Goldey Beacom's top four shooters with identical
rounds of 79 giving the Lightning a total of 304 on the afternoon. Adam
Strittmatter (So., Ford City HS/New Castle, Pa.)
and James Kim (Jr. Dulaney HS/Nottingham, Md.)
rounded out the Devils top four shooters with scores of 80 and 83 respectively,
to give the Devils a total score of 315. For Strittmatter,
his score was a 16-stroke improvement from the round of 96 he shot at
yesterday's match against Neumann College at Island Green.
Agnad Singh (82),
Jae Cho (87) and Brian Venturo (88) rounded out Haverford's top four shooters.
John McLaughlin was low scorer for Chestnut Hill with 82. Nick D'Amico
(95), Andy Thorne (100) and Bob Larkin (116) rounded out the Griffins
top four shooters.
The Devils return
to action on Monday, April 2nd when the take on Holy Family University
at Frankford-Torresdale Country Club.
Neumann
Narrowly Defeats Devils (3/30/07)
Scott
Cahayla
earned medallist honors and was one of two golfers to score under 80 as
the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia narrowly lost to Neumann
College 327-333 yesterday afternoon at Island Green Country Club in northeast
Philadelphia.
The loss drops the
Devils to 0-5 on the season.
Cahayla (Fr., Lakeland Regional/Ringwood, NJ)
completed the 18 holes with a score of 77, his best score of the season
and two strokes better than teammate, Dan Lovette
(Fr., Bishop McCourt/ Davidsville, Pa.), who shot
79. James Kim (Jr. Dulaney HS/Nottingham, Md.) finished
four strokes behind Cahayla with a score of
81. Adam Strittmatter (So.,
Ford City HS/New Castle, Pa.) rounded out the Devils
top four scorers with a score of 96 to give the Devils a final score of
327. Jon Kendter (Fr., Loyalsock
Township HS/Montoursville, Pa.) (98) and Lauren
Wallis (So, Carbondale Area HS/Carbondale, Pa.) (110) also
competed for the Devils.
The Knight's were
led by Mark Van Vliet (81) and Mike Marenic (81). Matt Waddington shot
82 while Joseph Coffey rounded out Neumann's top four scorers with 83,
giving the Knights a score of 327. Brian McCulla (83), Erik Stoyanovich
(88), Rich Brandel (85) and Bill Schetter (93) also competed for Neumann.
The Devils return
to action this afternoon when they take on Goldey Beacom College, Haverford
College and Chestnut Hill College in a quad match at Island Green Country
Club.

Drop Match to Holy Family (10/9/06)
The University of the Sciences
in Philadelphia coed golf team dropped their fourth dual match of the
season, falling to Holy Family University at Frankford-Torresdale Country
Club in Philadelphia this afternoon.
The Tigers defeated the Devils
305-355, with their four top golfers recording 79 or less. The Devils
drop to 0-4 with the loss.
The Tigers' Jon Radich
earned medallist honors with a score of 71. USP’s Peter Gilbert
(So., Whitehall HS/Whitehall, Pa.) was the Devils closest
finisher to Radich, shooting a round of 77, six strokes off the pace.
Holy Family’s Ed Webster (77),
Alan Flordeliza (78), Matt Deckert (79) and Don Masterson (80) were the
next four finishers.
Scott Cahayla
(Fr., Lakeland Regional/Ringwood, NJ) was the Devils second
best golfer on the afternoon, completing his round with a score of 82.
Michael Moll (So., Wilson Area HS/Easton, Pa.), Ralph Cameron
(Sr., Hazleton Area HS/Hazleton, Pa.) and Nathan
Zook (Jr., Cumberland Valley Christian/Chambersburg, PA)
rounded out the Devils golfers competing. Moll
shot a 95 while Cameron scored 101. Zook
finished his afternoon shooting a 104.
Tigers
Hand Devils their Third Loss (10/6/06)
Holy
Family University placed four golfers in the 70's as they handed the University
of the Sciences in Philadelphia their third loss to start the season yesterday
at Island Green County Club in Philadelphia.
The
Devils, playing without their top two golfers who were back on campus
taking a computer proficiency test, recorded a team score of 377, 72 strokes
behind Holy Family's 305. With the loss, USP is now 0-3 on the season.
The
Tigers' Jon Radich earned medallist honors with a score of 72. He was
followed by teammates Don Masterson (76); Alan Flordeliza (78) and Matt
Deckert (79).
USP
was led by Peter Gilbert's (So., Whitehall HS/Whitehall, Pa.)
score of 82. Michael Moll (So., Wilson Area
HS/Easton, Pa.) followed with a score of 95. Benjamin
Fong (Sr., Egg Harbor Twp/ Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) and
Jared Wallace (Jr., Sunnyside Christian, Toppenish, Wash.)
rounded out the Devils top four scorers with rounds of 98 and 102 respectively.
The
Devils will face the Tigers again on Monday, October 9, 2006 at Frankford
Torresdale Country Club.

Dan
Lovette
earned medallist honors for the second consecutive match, but the University
of the Sciences in Philadelphia's golf team fell to Holy Family University
329-343 at Frankford-Torresdale Country Club in Philadelphia yesterday.
Lovette
(Fr., Bishop McCourt/Davidsville, Pa.) shot a 74 beating
second low-scorer and teammate Scott Cahayla (Fr., Lakeland
Regional HS/Ringwood, N.J.) by four strokes. (78). Jon Radich
turned in a scorecard of 79 as the Tigers low scorer.
Holy
Family's Matt Deckert followed with a score of 80, followed by teammates
Don Masterson (84) and Ed Webster (86) to round out the Tigers 329 score.
Blake
Vida (So., Pomperaug Regional HS/Southbury, Conn.) and Jon
Kendter (Fr., Loyalsock Township HS/Montoursville, Pa.)
rounded out the Devils top four scorers. Vida
shot a 91 while Kendter shot a 100.
The
Devils, now 0-2, will again face the Tigers of Holy Family University,
this time at home on October 5, 2006 at Island Green Country Club in Philadelphia.

Team Opens Fall Season with Home Loss (9/22/06)
The
University of the Sciences in Philadelphia coed golf team kicked off their
fall 2006 campaign yesterday at Island Green Country Club in Philadelphia,
falling to Philadelphia University, 335-358.
Dan
Lovette (Fr., Bishop McCourt/Davidsville, Pa.)
earned medallist honors on the afternoon with a low score of 75. P.J.
O'Brien of Philadelphia University shot an 80 to help pace the Rams.
The
Rams also got scores of 84 from Joe Barricelli, 85 from Ian Schwartz and
86 from Nick Johns to make up their 335 match score. Scott
Cahayla (Fr., Lakeland Regional HS/Ringwood, N.J.) also
shot an 86 as the second lowest scorer on the Devils squad.
Rounding
out the Devils top four were Adam Strittmatter (So., Ford
City HS/New Castle, Pa.) and Jon Kendter (Fr.,
Loyalsock Township HS/Montoursville, Pa.). Strittmatter
shot a 95 while Kendter turned in a scorecard
of 102.
The
Devils (0-1) will take on Holy Family University on Tuesday, September
26, 2006 at Frankford-Torresdale Country Club.
