Defeats Devils (4/9/10)
In their final match before the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference
championships, the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia golf team
lost a dual match Friday afternoon to Swarthmore College 313-340 at Rock
Manor Golf Club in Wilmington, Delaware.
The Devils are now 13-24 in their 11 matches this season.
Swarthmore's Jake Carter and Kyle Krainock were the top two golfers on
the afternoon shooting 74 and 75 respectively to finish well ahead of
the rest of the field. Jason Franck and Joseph Mauro were the Devils top
finishers with a score of 82, eight strokes behind Carter and tied for
third place.
Scott Cahayla finished seventh overall, 13 strokes off the pace with
a score of 87. Pat Cliggett rounded out the Devils four scorers with a
score of 89 to finish in eighth place.
The Devils will compete at the CACC Golf Championships

Take Tri-Match at Whitemarsh (4/6/10)
Honing up
their game as they prepare for the upcoming Central Atlantic Collegiate
Conference golf championship next week, the University of the Sciences
in Philadelphia golf team took on the Whitemarsh Valley Golf Club course
along with host Chestnut Hill College and Penn State-Abington, coming
away with a positive result.
The Devils
and Penn-State Abington finished the day tied with a team score of 352.
Chestnut Hill was four strokes behind with a score of 356. Sciences is
now 13-23 in their 10 matches this season.
Jason Franck
earned medalist honors, shooting the low score of the match, an 11 over
par 82 to finish one stroke ahead of Chestnut Hill's Mike Gibbons (83)
and three ahead of Penn-State Abington's John Halbis (85). Scott Cahayla
was the Devils next high finisher, shooting an 87 to finish in sixth place.
Anuj Patel
and Joseph Mauro rounded out the Devils four scorers on the afternoon.
Patel finished tied for eighth place with a score of 91 Mauro finished
tied for tenth place one stroke behind Patel with a score of 92.
The Devils
will return to action for one more match before the CACC Championships.

Third Place Finish for Devils at Swarthmore Tri-Match

The University of the Sciences in Philadelphia golf team finished third
amongst the three teams competing at Monday's tri-match at Rolling Green
Country Club as host Swarthmore College prevailed over the Devils and
Philadelphia University.
Swarthmore's golfers shot 336 while Philadelphia University was two stroke
behind the Garnet with a score of 338. The Devils finished 11 strokes
back with a score of 347. Sciences is now 11-23 in their nine contests
this season.
Paul Weston from Swarthmore was the top golfer of the day, earning medalist
honors with a tow-over-par score of 7e. Philadelphia University's Ryan
O'Donnell was second with a score of 77.
Senior Scott Cahayla was the Devils top golfer on the afternoon, shooting
an eight-over-par 79 and placing third overall. Freshman Joseph Mauro
was fourth overall with a score of 82.
Patrick Cliggett and Ryan DeLorraine rounded out the Devils four scorers.
Cliggett shot 91 to finish in 11th place while DeLorraine shot 95 to finish
tied for 15th along with the Devils fifth golfer Anuj Patel.
The Devils will return to action on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 when they
play a tri-match at Whitemarsh Valley Country Club, hosted by Chestnut
Hill College.

Split a Tri-Match at the ACE Club (3/27/10)

Cahayla
tied for medalist honors as the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia
golf team split a tri-match at the ACE Club in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania
on Saturday, beating host Philadelphia University and losing to Neumann
University.
Neumann University
had the low team score on the day with 318 while the Devils shot 341.
Philadelphia University shot 342. The Devils are now 11-21 in their eight
contests this season.
Cahayla
(Lakeland Regional/ Ringwood, NJ) shot 75 on the
afternoon, tying him with Neumann University's Tom Moore for medalist
honors in the match. The Devils second finisher was Patrick
Cliggett (Pennridge HS/Perkasie, Pa.) who
was ten shots off the pace, tied for seventh place with a score of 85.
In ninth place was Joseph Mauro (New Hartford Sr. HS/New Hartford,
N.Y.) with a score of 87. Michael Farsetta (Clarkstown
South/New City, N.Y.)rounded out the Devils four scorers
with a 12th place finish and a score of 94.
Ryan O'Donnell was
Philadelphia University top finisher with a score of 82, followed by Tim
Gobrecht (84), Stan Chun (88) and Russ Pierson (88). Chris Donahue (78),
Keith Mastrenardo (80) and Rich Brandel (85) joined Moore as Neumann's
four top scorers.
The Devils return
to action on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 when they face Chestnut Hill College
at Whitemarsh Valley Country Club in Lafayette Hill. Tee time is set for
1:00 p.m.

Earn a Split at Chestnut Hill's Tri-Match (3/23/10)
The University of
the Sciences in Philadelphia golf team kicked off the spring portion of
their season on Tuesday with a split in their tri-match hosted by Chestnut
Hill College at Whitemarsh Valley Country Club in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania.
Philadelphia University
was the overall winner with a score of 339. Sciences followed with a score
of 350 and Chestnut Hill was third with a score of 358. The Devils are
10-20 in their seven contests since the start of their season last September.
Scott
Cahayla (Lakeland Regional/ Ringwood, NJ)
and Jason
Franck (Twin Valley High School/ Elverson,
Pa.)
were the Devils top golfers on the afternoon, finishing tied second place
overall behind medalist Ryan O'Donnell of Philadelphia University. Cahayla
and Franck both shot 83 to finish 12 over par and three strokes behind
O'Donnell's score of 80. Joseph
Mauro (New Hartford Sr. HS/New Hartford, N.Y.)
finished in ninth place overall with a score of 90 while Ryan
DeLorraine (Hempfield HS/Lancaster, Pa.)
rounded out the Devils four scorers, shooting 94 to finish tied for 11th
place amongst the 15 golfer competing.
The Devils return
to action on Saturday, March 27, 2010 when they compete in a tri-match
hosted by Philadelphia University at the ACE Club. Neumann University
will be the third team competing.

Finish Tenth at Swarthmore Invitational (10/19/09)
The University of
the Sciences in Philadelphia golf team finished in tenth place at Monday's
Swarthmore College Fall Invitational Tournament at Rock Manor Country
Club in Wilmington, Delaware.
The Devils finished
with a score of 361, five strokes behind ninth place Philadelphia Biblical
University. Rutgers-Camden won the tournament with a team score of
312, followed by Cabrini College (322), Neumann University(332) and
host Swarthmore College (332).
Senior Scott Cahayla
(Lakeland Regional/ Ringwood, NJ) led
the Devils shooting a seven-over par 78 to finish in a four way
tie for fifth place. Freshman Joseph Mauro (New Hartford
Sr. HS/New Hartford, N.Y.) was the next USP finisher
with a score of 86, placing 34th amongst the 69 finishers. Juniors
Anuj Patel
(St. Mary's Ryken HS /Leonardtown, Md.) (98) and Jason Franck
(Twin Valley High School/ Elverson, Pa.) (99)
rounded out the Devils four scorers. Sophomore Patrick
Cliggett (Pennridge HS/Perkasie, Pa.) was the fifth USP
golfer participating and also finished with a score of 99.
Rutgers-Camden's
Josh Feldschneider won the tournament with an even par round of 71.
The Devils return
to action on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 against Philadelphia University
at the ACE Club.
Golf
Team Splits Tri-Match (10/10/09)
The University of
the Sciences in Philadelphia golf team earned a split in Saturday afternoon's
tri-match at The ACE Club in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania, losing to host
Philadelphia University while defeating Wilmington University.
Philadelphia University
finished with a team score of 339 while USP scored 356. Wilmington did
not have a score due to one of their four players not finishing. The split
gives the Devils a 5-1 record for the fall.
The Devils were led
by junior Jason Franck
(Twin Valley High School/ Elverson, Pa.), who shot
an 82 on the afternoon., tying him for second place amongst the 14 golfers
competing. Senior Scott Cahayla
(Lakeland Regional/ Ringwood, NJ) was one stroke
behind Franck with a score of 83, tying him for fourth place overall.
Rounding out the Devils top four scorers were sophomore Pat
Cliggett (Pennridge HS/Perkasie, Pa.) (92) and junior Anuj
Patel (St. Mary's Ryken HS /Leonardtown, Md.) (99).
Wilmington's Nick
Mafale had the lowest score of the match, shooting a five-over 77. Ryan
O'Donnell led the Rams with a score of 82.
The Devils return
to action on Monday, October 19, 2009 when they take on Swarthmore
College at Rock Manor Golf Club starting at 1:00 p.m.

Defeat Griffins (10/6/09)
Senior Scott
Cahayla earned medalist honors as the University of the
Sciences in Philadelphia golf team earned their fourth win of the fall
season, defeating Chestnut Hill 330-356 at Island Green Country Club in
Philadelphia Tuesday afternoon.
Cahayla
(Lakeland Regional/ Ringwood, NJ) shot a four-over
par round of 76 to finish five strokes ahead of Chestnut Hill's Tim Streeper.
USP sophomore Ryan DeLorraine (Hempfield HS/Lancaster, Pa.)
and freshman Joseph Mauro (New Hartford Sr. HS/New Hartford,
N.Y.) finished in a three way tie for third with CHC's Mike
Gibbons with rounds of 84. Junior Anuj
Patel (St. Mary's Ryken HS /Leonardtown, Md.) rounded
out the Devils scorers with a sixth place finish and a score of 86.
Darrell Bachman (92)
and Mario Incollingo (99) rounded out the Griffins scorers for the match.
Cahayla trailed Streeper
by one stroke after the first nine holes, 37-38 but was able to pull even
with a birdie on the 11th hole. Streeper parred the 12th hole and Cahayla
had a bogey to put Streeper ahead again by one stroke. Scott added a birdie
on the 13th hole and took command when Streeper recorded a triple bogey
on the same hole, giving Cahayla a three stroke lead. The lead increased
to five over the final five holes. Cahayla finished the match with four
birdies along with parring ten holes.
Mauro and DeLorraine
each had two birdies en route to their scores of 84 while parring six
and four holes respectively. Patel parred five holes and added a birdie
on the par 3 14th hole. The Devils' fifth golfer on the afternoon, freshman
Matthew Garin (Monsignor Farrell HS/Staten Island, N.Y.),
shot 89 to finish in seventh place amongst the ten golfers competing.
The Devils return
to action on Saturday when the play Philadelphia University at the ACE
Club. First tee time is 1:00 p.m.
Devils
Win Home Opener (9/30/09)
The University of
the Sciences in Philadelphia golf team held their home opener Wednesday
afternoon at Island Green Country Club and came away with a win in the
quad match, defeating Caldwell College, Felician College and Chestnut
Hill College.
The Devils finished
with a score of 332, ten strokes ahead of Caldwell College (342). Felician
College was third with a score of 348 while Chestnut Hill was fourth with
a score of 370.
Felician's Joe Leardo
earned medalist honors for the match, shooting a two-over par 74. Daniel
Garcia of Caldwell College was second with a score of 76.
The Devils were led
by junior Jason Franck
(Twin Valley High School/ Elverson, Pa.). Franck
shot an eight-over par 80 to place fourth amongst the 21 golfers competing.
Jason parred 10 holes and recorded a birdie on the par four sixth hole.
One stroke behind Franck was freshman Joseph Mauro (New Hartford
Sr. HS/New Hartford, N.Y.) with an score of 81. Mauro parred
eight holes and recorded birdies on the par five second and par five tenth
holes. Also recording a birdie on the par-five tenth hole was senior Scott
Cahayla (Lakeland Regional/ Ringwood, NJ). In addition
to the birdie, Cahayla parred five holes and finished tied for eighth
place with a score of 85.
Rounding out the
Devils top four scorers was sophomore Patrick Cliggett (Pennridge
HS/Perkasie, Pa) .
Cliggett finished one stroke behind Cahayla to finish in 11th place overall
with a score of 86. Junior Anuj
Patel (St. Mary's Ryken HS /Leonardtown, Md.) was
the Devils fifth player, finishing tied for 13th place with a score of
91. Patel tied with teammate Ryan DeLorraine (Hempfield HS/Lancaster,
Pa.) who was playing as an individual. Freshman Matthew
Garin (Monsignor Farrell HS/Staten Island, N.Y.) also shot
as an individual, shooting 95 on the afternoon.
The Devils return
to action next week in their second home quad match of the fall, taking
on the same three teams (Caldwell, Felician, Chestnut Hill) at Island
Green Country Club on Tuesday, October 6, 2009.
