Beaman and Chesnavich Named to CACC Basketball Honor Rolls

New Haven, Conn. (12/9/08) – University of the Sciences in Philadelphia men’s basketball player Tramar Beaman (Williamstown High School/ Williamstown, N.J.) and women’s Basketball player Erin Chesnavich (Bishop O’Reilly High School/Pittston, Pa.) were named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men’s and Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Rolls for their performances during the week ending December 7, 2008.

The sophomore Beaman averaged 17.5 points, five rebounds and two steals as he led the Devils to a perfect 2-0 week. Tramar shot 59.1% (13-22) from the field in USP’s two contests, including a 4-for-6 effort from beyond the three point arc.

Beaman opened the week with a 17-point effort against Holy Family University as the Devils defeated their area rival 65-46. The sophomore guard followed that with an 18-point, seven rebound game at Columbia Union College. Beaman scored USP’s first seven points of the second half, triggering a 17-2 run as the Devils overcame a six-point deficit to win 68-54. Tramar had 13 of his 18 points in the second half.

Chesnavich, a junior forward, recorded her second double-double of the season in USP’s loss to defending CACC champion Holy Family University to earn a place on the CACC Honor roll for the third consecutive week. Erin connected on eight of 14 shots from the field and was a perfect 3-for-3 from the foul line to finish with a game high 19 points. Chesnavich added 10 rebounds and three blocked shots in USP’s losing effort.

A first team All-CACC selection last year, Chesnavich is amongst the conference leaders in five different categories, leading the league in field goal percentage (60.2%), ranking third in scoring (18.1 points per game), fourth in blocked shots (2.00/game), ninth in free throw percentage (84.0%) and 18th in rebounding (6.7 per game).

Beaman is USP’s second leading scorer and leads the team in field goal percentage (60.8%), a mark which ranks him third amongst all CACC men’s basketball players. Tramar’s 11.3 points per game average ranks 24th amongst the conference scoring leaders. He currently leads the USP men’s basketball squad in steals (8) and three-point field goal percentage (54.5%) and is second on the team with 13 assists.

A former Williamstown High School athlete, Beaman is in his second season of play for the Devils and is a pharmaceutical marketing/management major at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.

Chesnavich, a former Bishop O’Reilly High School athlete, is in her third season of play for the Devils and is a majoring in biology at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.
