Named CACC Baseball Player of the Week
New Haven- Conn. (3/10/08) – University of the Sciences in Philadelphia baseball player Phil Maher (Norristown High School/Norristown, Pa.) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Player of the Week for his performance during the week ending March 9, 2008.
Maher, a 6’4” senior outfielder, batted .333 during USP’s six games, driving in six runs. He notched at least one hit in all six games, as the Devils concluded their Florida trip with in 1-5 record in their final six games.
In the Devils final game of the trip, a regional contest against Stonehill College, Maher went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI’s as the Devils rallied from a 3-1 deficit to defeat the Skyhawks, 4-3.
Maher drove two runs against Kentucky Wesleyan and recorded doubles against Saginaw Valley State College and Winona State University.
The former Norristown High School athlete is in his fourth and final season of play for the Devils. Maher currently leads the team in RBI (11) and doubles (4). He is second on the team in slugging percentage (.586) and third in batting (.345), on-base percentage (.786), and hits (10).
Maher is a pharmacy major pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.
