LaRocco Named CACC Baseball Rookie of the Week
New Haven- Conn. (3/03/08) – University of the Sciences in Philadelphia baseball player Pete LaRocco (Gloucester Catholic High School/Sewell, N.J.) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Rookie of the Week for his performance during USP games played up to March 2, 2008.
LaRocco, a 6’0” freshman designated hitter, batted .500 during USP’s four games, driving in seven runs. He notched at least one hit and one RBI in each of the Devils first four games, leading USP to a 3-1 mark.
In the Devils second game against Gannon on Sunday in Fort Myers, Florida, LaRocco went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI’s as the Devils salvaged a split, defeating the Golden Knights, 8-7. Pete also had two hits in the opener against Gannon, a 5-4 loss for the Devils.
LaRocco drove in a run with a single in the Devils’ 6-4 win over North Dakota to open USP’s Florida trip. The former Gloucester Catholic High School athlete began his collegiate career with a pair of hits and two RBI’s in USP’s 30-2 win over Gallaudet.
The former Gloucester Catholic High School athlete is in his first season of
play for the Devils.
LaRocco currently leads the team in RBI (7), hits
(7) and total bases (11). He is second on the team in batting (.500) and slugging
percentage (.786)
LaRocco is a pharmacy major pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.
