DeVincenzo Named
to Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Baseball Team
Philadelphia, Pa. – University of the Sciences in Philadelphia senior Michael DeVincenzo has been named to the 2007 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Baseball Team.
DeVincenzo (Bishop Hoban High School/Plain, Pa.) is one of ten student-athletes selected to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Baseball Team. The team was voted on by the sports information offices of the 28 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
DeVincenzo, who also earned a spot on the Academic All-Area team last year, played in all 30 of the Devils games this season, starting 29. Michael was fourth on the team with 24 hits and 12 runs scored. The senior infielder/pitcher closed out his career hitting .254 in a school record 134 games. One of just nine players in school history to record 100 career hits, DeVincenzo ranks seventh on the Devils all-time hits list with 111 and fifth on USP’s all-time doubles list with 27. DeVincenzo has been on the Dean’s List every semester and is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society.
DeVincenzo sports a 3.82 grade point average while pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.
Joining DeVincenzo on the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Baseball Team are Joe Boaen of the University of Pennsylvania; Nate Buchter of Rutgers-Camden; Ben Einbinder and Ben Field of Haverford College; Keith Heck of Philadelphia University; Tommy Herrmann of Ursinus College; Mark Mattes of Gwynedd Mercy College; Dan Terpak of Villanova University and Dan Waters of LaSalle University . Heck was named the 2007 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Baseball Performer of the Year.
