Description

The Humanities Minor is a program of study which provides students with an opportunity to study the humanities within a topically focused, discipline-based, or interdisciplinary approach. Further, we anticipate that the Humanities minor credential should prove helpful when applying to professional programs and employment.

Presently, more than sixty students are enrolled in this program. These students are directing their courses to Twentieth-Century Studies, European Studies, American Studies, German Studies, Spanish Studies, Literature, Historical Studies, etc.

Students will take eighteen hours of coursework in the humanities including HU 498 (095), Directed Study in the Humanities; the remaining fifteen credit hours will be determined individually based on the student’s area of study. Up to six credit hours of transferred course work may apply to the Humanities Minor.

ELIGIBILITY

Ordinarily students apply for the Humanities Minor at the end of the second year of study. A student must have (1) a 2.0 GPA or higher and (2) approval of his/her advisor in order to apply for the program.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Eligible students should arrange for a meeting with the Chair of the Dept. of Humanities to discuss the Humanities Minor. Students should bring an unofficial copy of their transcript to the initial meeting. Application forms and complete details will be provided at that time.
