Laurie Kirszner teaches courses in composition, literature, and creative writing and works closely with students who are writing minors.
Dr. Kirszner is coauthor of over a dozen popular college writing textbooks, including literature anthologies; grammar handbooks; rhetorical, thematic, and cross-cultural readers; and developmental writing workbooks. Her best-known text, Patterns for College Writing, has for years been the nation's best-selling college composition reader/rhetoric.

She has also participated in panel discussions and workshops at professional meetings, including the Conference on College Composition and Communication, the National Council of Teachers of English, and the Texas Junior College Teachers Association.
