Research Study on Cycling For Adults with Cerebral Palsy
Purpose of Study
We hope to learn how a cycling program may help adults with cerebral palsy. We are looking at the effects in four areas:
- Health and fitness
- Muscle strength and spasms
- Day to day function
- Quality of life and self-esteem
Eligibility:
You might be able to be in the study if you:
- Are 18 to 65 years old
- Have spastic diplegic or quadriplegic cerebral palsy
- Can walk or could walk before
- Have no major medical problems
- Have not broken leg bones or had leg surgery in the past 6 months
- Have not had Botox for your leg muscles in the past 6 months
- Do not have severe spasticity in your legs
- Are not pregnant
Study Requirements:
- Attend one hour training sessions three times each week for 12 weeks.
- Attend testing sessions three times. Each is about 3 ½ hours long.
Costs:
You do not have to pay to be in the study. We will help with your transportation costs.
