Add or change your alternate e-mail address

When you create a Windows Live Hotmail account you can specify an alternate e-mail address where we can send reset instructions if you forget your password.
To add or change an alternate e-mail address:

1. In the upper-right corner of the Windows Live Hotmail home page, click Options, and then click More options.
2. Under Manage your account, click View and edit your personal information.

1. If you want to add an alternate e-mail address, next to Alternate e-mail address, click Add.

If you want to change your alternate e-mail address, next to Alternate e-mail address, click Change.

4. Type your password, type your alternate e-mail address two times, and then click Save.

Note

The alternate e-mail address must be an address that you can access without signing in to Windows Live Hotmail.
